Area under winter weather advisory; area roads slippery

A winter weather advisory remains in effect until midnight today, bringing with it more wintry precipitation.

According to the National Weather Service, additional snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches of snow and a light glaze of ice are expected, with winds gusting as high as 40 mph.

People should plan on slippery road conditions and patchy blowing snow.

Conditions are expected to impact the morning and evening commutes. As of 7 a.m., the Minnesota Department of Transportation listed roads in Freeborn County as partially covered in ice.

Precipitation is expected to diminish between 8 p.m. and midnight.
