The final listening session of the Minnesota Department of Agriculture’s Emerging Farmers Working Group offers another opportunity for beginning and potential farmers to describe the barriers they face and possible solutions to overcome them, according to a press release.

The session is scheduled for 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday at 125 LIVE, 125 Elton Hills NW in Rochester. It is free and open to the public, but completion of an online RSVP is required to attend.

The group’s goal is to advance the success and sustainability of indigenous farmers, immigrant farmers, farmers of color and others who traditionally cannot access the resources necessary to build a profitable agricultural business, the release stated.

“Minnesota agriculture is made stronger by our diversity. I’m excited to see farmers from every community engage in an industry that is foundational to our state’s culture and economy,” said Lt. Governor Peggy Flanagan, who is scheduled to attend the session. “As we build the agricultural industry of the future, it’s critical that all voices and ideas are at the table.”
