Funeral services for Vernon D. Johnson, 89, of Albert Lea, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home. The Rev. Kent Otterman will officiate. Vernon Donald Johnson died Dec. 5, 2019, at Birchwood Cottages in Owatonna.

Vern grew up with his grandmother in Kensett. After she passed away, he moved in with his brother John, and together they farmed hogs in Clarks Grove. He then moved to Just Like Home in Albert Lea. In April 2019, he moved to Birchwood Cottages in Owatonna. Vern enjoyed spending his time working on the farm.

Vern is survived by his brothers John Johnson and Dennis (Verna) Johnson; and a sister, Gretchen Hipp.

Vern was preceded in death by sisters Maxine Johnson and Gale De Foe; and parents George and Alma Johnson.
