Willard E. Huper, 87, of Wells died Monday, Dec. 9, 2019, at Good Samaritan Society of Albert Lea. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Wells with the Rev. Mary Iverson officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Willard was born June 16, 1932, the son of Louis and Clara (Frederick) Huper in Wells. He was baptized, confirmed and married at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of Wells. He graduated from Wells High School with the class of 1951.
On June 19, 1951, he was united in marriage to Marvel Korman; to this union four children were born. The couple celebrated 68 years of marriage in June 2019. Willard farmed his entire life and he enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Marvel; two sons, Steve (wife, Kim) Huper and Tom (wife, Angie) Huper, all of Wells; daughter-in-law, Karen Huper, of Lake Mills; seven grandchildren, Alisha (Mike) Melhus of Rogers, Brett Sylvara of Janesville, Matt Huper of Lake Crystal, Josh Huper (Sarah Yates) of Wells, Megan Huper of Evergreen, Colorado, Alex Huper of Wells and his (fiancee, Lyndee Nohner) of Waseca and Jack Huper of Wells; and 10 great-grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews and their families.
Willard is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Alfred Huper; sister, Adeline Niebuhr; grandson, Cory Huper, in 1996; son, Daniel Huper, in 2005; and daughter, Beverly Sylvara, in 2019.
