Letter: Hagedorn has done more to unify

It’s great (and slightly annoying) to see that the Feehan campaign is prioritizing Albert Lea in their election efforts by filling our paper with letters to the editor from people in cities that are nowhere near Albert Lea.

In Liz Boldon of Rochester’s letter, she claims that Congressman Hagedorn has voted twice against prescription drug costs, and repeats Feehan’s debunked lie that Congressman Hagedorn has accepted money from the pharmaceutical industry. Liz is referring to H.R. 3, which would traumatize developmental progress for new cures for diseases like cancer. H.R. 3, according to the CBO, could block up to 100 new cures from hitting the markets over the next 10 years. H.R. 3 also takes allows the government to decide who succeeds and who fails in the healthcare field. As for the pharmaceutical donations, that’s simply untrue. Look at any FEC forms for the Hagedorn campaign and you will not find a single penny from a pharmaceutical company. Hagedorn has challenged Feehan to prove his claim, and Feehan has not done so (because he can’t).

Next, I’m unsure what bill Liz is talking about for student loan borrowers, but I do know that Congressman Hagedorn wrote H.R. 4469, a bill “to permit 529 plans to be used for certain non-degree technical training certificate programs and apprenticeship programs.”

Next, yes, Liz. Congressman Hagedorn is against gun control, because it won’t solve a thing. Congressman Hagedorn supports the Second Amendment, and will not punish law-abiding citizens for the crimes of evil, deranged people. There are other solutions than gun control.

As for climate change, Hagedorn believes that the climate is changing. However, he opposes anything that will annihilate the growth of small businesses, which, not that Liz knows this living in Rochester, are fundamental to the economy in Albert Lea.

Lastly, Congressman Hagedorn has done more to unify than Dan Feehan has. All Feehan does on his Facebook and Twitter pages are attack Congressman Hagedorn with untrue statements. It’s incredibly hypocritical coming from someone who claims he wants to stay above the political fray.

Congressman Hagedorn has been representing us with pride since day one, and I can’t wait to see him re-elected on Nov. 3.
