The Albert Lea boys’ basketball team traveled to Red Wing Friday night looking to get back in the win column after a three-game losing streak.
Behind big nights from seniors Koby Hendrickson and Chay Guen, the Tigers hung on to win the game over the Wingers 62-54.
After getting out to a 15-point lead at the halftime break, the Tigers allowed the Wingers to inch their way back into the game, being outscored 35-28 in the second half. However, the Wingers comeback would fall short of the mark, giving the Tigers their fourth win of the season.
The Tigers were led by Hendrickson and Guen, who each had 18 points. Hendrickson recorded a double-double, also pulling down 10 rebounds, notching four assists and two steals. Guen added nine rebounds and two blocks.
Senior Andrew Willner was the next highest scorer with nine points and two rebounds. Senior Connor Veldman scored eight points and recorded 11 rebounds, three assists and two steals.
Senior Logan Howe, junior Bhan Kuey and freshman Pal Wal combined for nine points, seven rebounds and four assists.
The Tigers climb to 4-6 on the season and will play again Tuesday when they host the 7-3 Spartans of Rochester Mayo.
