Memorial Services for Steven Quam will be held at 11 AM on Monday, June 8 at East Freeborn Lutheran Church. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 PM, Sunday, June 7 at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and for one hour prior to service on Monday at the church. Weather permitting, to allow for larger attendance, Sunday’s visitation will be held outdoors. In case of poor weather, visitation will be moved into Bayview’s chapel. Masks are required and current social gather/distancing guidelines will be followed.
Steven LuVerne Quam was born to C. Paul and Janiece (Low) Quam on March 9, 1959. He grew up in rural Ellendale and graduated from Ellendale High School in 1977. On May 27, 1978, Steve was united in marriage to Karen Bagley. From this union two children were born. The family made their home in rural Clarks Grove. He worked as a truck driver and mechanic for Freeborn county. Steven enjoyed fixing equipment and was known to be able to fix nearly anything. Later, Steve and some friends founded Yaunt-2 Ranch Rodeo Inc. This group of friends have been holding ranch rodeos by New Richland for more than 25 years. He continued to work with Yaunt-2 after his retirement from the Highway department. Steve passed away Saturday, May 30, 2020 surrounded by his family having lived to reach the age of 61 years.
Steve enjoyed wood and metal working, camping, boating and pontooning. He had a love of animals and that contributed to his enjoyment of riding and driving horses as well as conducting and attending ranch rodeos. Steve was also a yearly contributor to the Geneva Cancer Auction. He was always looking for ways to raise money or contribute to the auction.
Steve is survived by his wife of 42 years, Karen; children/grandchildren, Jesse (Sophie) and their children Charlotte and Baby Boy Quam; Kate (Cory) Camerer and their daughter Raya; siblings Jeff (Char), Scott (Carol), Lori (Jeff) Miller, Jon, Craig (Kim); numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, C. Paul and Janiece Quam; niece Amy.
