Show to benefit Meals on the Go
For the first time since January 2020, The Story Show, a biannual storytelling event benefiting local charities, will return to the Marion Ross Performing Arts Center.
The Story Show will take place at 7:30 p.m. Friday and feature stories around the theme of “Blaze Your Trail,” according to a press release.
Eight writers will read their original stories, each approximately 5 to 7 minutes in length. Live music by Mary Bissen will be featured before the show and again before intermission.
This year’s story speakers are Scott Pirsig, Kelly Callahan, Monica Ocampo, Ben Hafenstein, Hannah Bergstrom Deleon, Burke Egner, Cindy Fjermestad and Jen Vogt-Erickson.
As this is a story reading, it may not be suitable for very young children.
Tickets are available at the Albert Lea Community Theatre at www.actonbroadway.com/tickets or anywhere tickets through the Marion Ross Performing Arts Center are sold.
This season’s show will benefit Meals on the Go program, which is for anyone age 60 and older who is confined to their home, or anyone unable to prepare a balanced meal. Spouses are automatically included as eligible regardless of age. Volunteers deliver the meals to the recipient’s home. Recipients are given the opportunity to donate toward the cost of the meal, and no one is denied a meal because of an inability to contribute.
