Landlords, farmers and agri-business professionals should make plans to attend one of the informative in-person meetings being held across Minnesota in October, November and December. These free meetings are being provided by the University of Minnesota Extension.

Farm land rental rates are the largest input cost the farmer has. Determining and negotiating a fair farm rent agreement is always challenging.

David Bau and Nathan Hulinsky, extension educators in ag business management, will provide several ways to determine a fair farm land rental rate for both parties such as factsheets and worksheets.

Make plans to attend one of these meetings now. Check out Extension’s website at: Extension.umn.edu in late October for the complete schedule of dates and locations of the workshops. Attendees will receive several informative worksheets and factsheets that will help to determine what is a fair 2024 farm land rental rate is. Some locations will require facemasks be worn during meetings. Other sites might change to require facemasks before they occur so to be safe, bring a mask with you to workshops and feel free to wear them.

The meetings will be held from Oct. 31 through Dec. 21. There will be a follow up of zoom meetings scheduled to regions across the state starting in January.

No pre-registration is required.

The next meeting will be held locally on Dec. 21 at 9:30 a.m. at the Freeborn County Government Center (Freeborn Meeting Room) at 411 S Broadway Ave., MN 56007. Please use door #1 for entry to the building.
