- The Albert Lea A Squirts hosted their Home Hockey Tournament (A Squirts Classic) last weekend at Albert Lea City Arena. The Albert Lea Hockey A Squirts took the championship game in overtime. Albert Lea played Mason City on Jan. 5; Armstrong Cooper and Sioux City Gold on Jan. 6 — all wins to make it to the championship game Jan. 7, where they played Des Moines - Red. They went 6-6 in three periods, ending in a tie, with Albert Lea scoring the overtime goal for the win. Provided
