David A. Liane, 74 of rural Lake Mills, Iowa passed away peacefully after a long courageous battle with cancer on Sunday, December 31, 2023 at his home.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, January 5, 2024, at the Lake Mills Synod Evangelical Lutheran Church, 107 N. 1st Ave. E. in Lake Mills with Pastor Glenn Smith officiating. Military Honors will be conducted by the Emmons American Legion, Louis Tveite Post #317.

Dave’s family will be at the church to greet friends an hour prior to the service on Friday.

Inurnment will take place in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Preston, Minnesota on Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at 1:00 PM.

David Allen Liane was born on December 12, 1949 in Albert Lea, Minnesota to parents Wendell and Alice (Rhiger) Liane. He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church and attended school in New Richland, Minnesota. David entered the United States Army on October 30, 1969. He served in the 56 Artillery Brigade with the Pershing Missiles in West Germany. He was honorably discharged on July 31, 1971.

David was united in marriage with Teresa Maureen Holt in October of 2001 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Albert Lea, Minnesota.

He was a field engineer for Interstate Power Company (later Alliant Energy), retiring after 33 years. Dave was a member of Lime Creek Synod Church, rural Lake Mills, and the Emmons American Legion Post #317. In his free time, he enjoyed reading, planning, mapping, sailing, and exploring the Island of Nevis.

Survivors include his wife Teresa Liane of rural Lake Mills; two children: Jason (Amber) Liane of Holden, MO, and Dawn (Danny) Leibold of Ostrander, MN; a granddaughter Sydney Liane; two step-children: Eric Herfendal of Lake Mills, and Erin (Brian) Warner of Albert Lea, MN; three siblings: Ruth (Charles) Schwartz of LeSueur, MN, Mark Liane of Truman, MN, and John Liane of Bloomington, MN; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Paul Liane.
