Delcie Brandt, a wonderful gardener, and great cook, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2024, at the age of 80 years and 11 months, at Thorne Crest. Her legacy, rich with the beauty of meticulously tended gardens and the warmth of lovingly prepared meals, speaks volumes of her love for life’s simple, yet profound, joys.
Born on February 7, 1943, to George & L. Delcie Ward, Delcie married Ronnie L. Brandt on May 29, 1976, at Manchester Lutheran Church in Manchester, MN. She completed her GED in Albert Lea, MN, and had a fulfilling career working at Queen Products, Farmstead, and Hormel, retiring in 2001.
Delcie’s passion for gardening was evident in the vibrant displays of flowers and vegetables she cultivated with care and skill. Her garden was not just a hobby; it was a reflection of her connection with nature and her joy in nurturing life. In the kitchen, Delcie’s cooking skills, especially her well-liked pie crust, was a source of delight for her family and friends. Her cooking was more than just preparing meals; it was an expression of her love and a way to bring people together.
Delcie’s life was also marked by her strong work ethic and determination. She faced life’s challenges with resilience, inspiring those around her with her steadfastness. One of her most significant achievements was fulfilling the dream she shared with Ronnie – owning their own home. This accomplishment was a testament to her hard work, love, and sacrifice.
Delcie will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Ronnie L Brandt; children, Delcie (Pete) Jensen, Dixcie Lindberg, and Sean Rongved; stepsons, Shannon (Kathy) Brandt and Sheldon (Amy) Brandt; grandchildren, Luke Jensen, Pearce (Eleanor) Jensen, Nick Lindberg, Jake Lindberg, Anna Flugum, Caleb Rongved, Harley Rongved, and Lottie Rongved; great-grandson, Milo Jensen; along with many loved family members.
Delcie is preceded in death by her parents; father-in-law, Helmer Brandt; son, Joe Flugum; brother, George R Ward Jr.; and many other family members.
Our family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff at Thorne Crest and St. Croix Hospice for their compassionate care during Delcie’s last days. Her strength, resilience, and unique spirit will forever be remembered and respected.
Interment will be at Hillcrest Cemetery and a private family service will be held at a later date.
