Harriet Wangen

Harriet Wangen, 92, passed away on Thursday, January 4, 2024 at Thorne Crest Senior Community in Albert Lea, MN two days after suffering a massive stroke at her home.
A funeral service will be held at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home on Friday, January 12, 2024 at 11am. Pastor Mark Boorsma will be officiating. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, January 11, 2024 from 5-7pm, along with an hour before the service on Friday.
Harriet was born on April 11, 1931 in Albert Lea to Nels and Mabel Petersen. Harriet graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1950. She married Lloyd Landaas, and after his death, she met and married Marvin Wangen. Harriet was a life-long member of the Calvary Baptist Church. In her free time, she enjoyed knitting, sewing, traveling, and playing games of Farkle, Rummikub and word searches. She was a huge Minnesota Twins fan, and loved to watch the games (even the old re-runs). She cherished spending time with her family and playing cards with her friends.
Harriet is survived in death by her daughters Diane Landaas of Albert Lea, Janis and husband Dave Deyak of Iowa City IA; son Aaron Wangen and wife Jody Selberg of Bismarck ND; son-in-law Bret Winkler of Bloomington, MN; grandchildren Sam Deyak of Olympia, WA; Nathan Deyak of Pittsburgh, PA; Sophia Deyak of Saint Peter, MN; Cecelia Wangen of Bismarck, ND; twin brother Harris Petersen of San Diego, CA; along with many nieces and nephews.
Harriet is preceded in death by her husband Lloyd Landaas; husband Marvin Wangen; step-daughter Claudia Winkler; parents Nels and Mabel Petersen; siblings Dorothy (Lloyd) Gillespie, Neal (Hazel) Petersen, Marcella (Jim) Minear, Alton (Maryann) Petersen; many nieces and nephews, as well as her Landaas and Wangen in-laws.
