The Albert Lea – Freeborn County Chamber of Commerce Agricultural Committee will host the 19th Annual Agriculture Luncheon on Tuesday at the Fairlane Building at the Freeborn County Fairgrounds.
The annual Agricultural Luncheon, which begins at noon, is a tribute to those who tirelessly cultivate the lands and nourish communities. As part of this annual meeting, the Chamber’s Agriculture Committee selects and recognizes the Freeborn County Farm Family of the Year and Farm Families of years past. This will be the 45th year for the recognition.
To be nominated, the Farm Family must be Minnesota food producers actively involved in agricultural production with one or more agricultural enterprises or have made significant short-term progress and/or innovative contributions with their agricultural endeavors. Winners are selected based on their commitment to enhancing and supporting the fields of agriculture and production and their involvement in their communities and/or related organizations.
This year’s event will also feature guest speaker, Darin Johnson. Darin is a fourth-generation farmer, current vice president and upcoming president of the Minnesota Soybean Growers Association. Johnson is also the co-owner of Johnson Farms, south of Wells, along with his uncle. Over the years, Johnson has watched the farming industry change and has been a part of growing his family farm as they also own a seed business and a trucking operation.
Tickets are limited and may be purchased at the Albert Lea-Freeborn County Chamber of Commerce, 132 N. Broadway Ave. in Albert Lea. For more information, call the chamber at 507-373-3938.
