‘The Complete Works of Shakespeare — Abridged’

After weeks of preparation, Albert Lea Community Theatre is excited to perform their latest play, “The Complete Works of Shakespeare — Abridged.” The show features all 37 of Shakespeare’s plays in 97 minutes. The satirical comedy is directed by Brian Mattson and stars local actors Ethan Eriksmoen, Risha Lilienthal, Adam Odegaard and Daniel Montenegro. The show will run from Thursday through March 23. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students and can be purchased online at, by phone at 877-730-3144 (service fees apply) and at the box office.

L.A. Sasse at the Memory Cafe

The Albert Lea Senior Center will host the Memory Cafe at 2 p.m. on Thursday. This is a slight change as the Memory Cafe transitions to having music on Thursday afternoons and crafts on Mondays. L.A. Sasse will entertain visitors with some old musical favorites on the piano. This event is free and open to the public. People with any level of memory loss are encouraged to participate. There will also be refreshments served.

Open mic night

If you missed the previous talent night at Lucky’s Pub but still want to show off your skills, don’t worry — Lucky’s Pub in Hayward is having another open mic night from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday. Jesse Smith will be performing. Guests are invited to showcase their musical talent, comedy routines (people are asked to keep them on the cleaner side), ventriloquism or other special talent.

Pull-tab races and surf n’ turf meat raffles

Come to Hartland University Bar at 2 p.m. Saturday for Races and Raffles. The event will have pull-tab races as well as surf n’ turf meat raffles. The event will run as long as people are interested in playing.

Comedy night in the ballroom

Worth Brewing Co. in Northwood will host a comedy night at 8 p.m. Saturday. Doors will open at 7:30 p.m. The show will feature The Other Guys Comedy with Aidan McCluskey and Tia Hannes. There will be craft beer, cocktails, wine and soda available for purchase.
