Polka party 

Join fellow polka enthusiasts from 1 to 4 p.m. Thursday at Edgewater Bay Pavilion. There will be polka music by the Dan Stursa Band, and guests are free to dance, talk, relax and enjoy coffee and cake. The Albert Lea Convention and Visitors Bureau is hosting the event in partnership with the Hy-Vee Bakery.

The Eras Party

Taylor Swift fans are invited to The Hive at 6 p.m. Friday for a special Eras Tour event. Guests are encouraged to come dressed as their favorite Taylor Swift era and make friendship bracelets, play Taylor’s version trivia and listen to her top hits. Papa Greezy live music

Come to Lucky’s Pub in Hayward from 8 to 11 p.m. Friday to listen to live music by band Papa Greezy. The band describes its music as rooted heavily in the Americana songbook.

Healthy Kids Day

Everyone is invited to the Albert Lea Family YMCA from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday for Healthy Kids Day. It will be an afternoon of fun activities to promote healthy living for kids and families. The event is free and open to both members of the YMCA and non-members. There will be a family obstacle course, a bounce house in the gym, pickleball 101, a planting activity and storytime, among other activities.

Minnesota Author Tour

The 2024 Minnesota Author Tour kicks off at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Albert Lea Public Library with Minnesota-based authors Jess Lourey, author of “Quarry Girls,” “The Steinbeck and Reed” series, “Murder by Month” series and many more; and Sarah Stonich, author of “Laurentian Divide,” “Vacationland,” “Northern Trilogy” and memoir “Shelter.” Both authors will talk about their books and their journeys to becoming award-winning writers.
