Meloid Thofson, 92, passed away on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at the Clarks Crossing Assisted Living facility in Wells, MN. A funeral service will be held at 2pm on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at the Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home in Albert Lea, MN. A visitation will be held an hour prior to the service. Pastor Leandra Anderson will be officiating.

Meloid Thofson

Meloid was born on August 13, 1931, in Bath Township, MN to Malmin and Clarice (Tukua) Thofson. In his youth, he grew up in Hayward, MN and attended the local rural schools. After his schooling, he made a career of being a fork-lift driver for over 30 years for the Queens Stove/King Seely Company in Albert Lea.

When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed building and fixing things, traveling with his family, and attending air shows. His main hobby though, was collecting antique tractors, and attending steam engine shows. Meloid resided in Hartland, MN for 55 years before moving to assisted living. He was always a kid at heart.

Meloid is survived by his children Judy (Steve) Christensen, Michael Thofson, Jim (Kathy) Thofson, Gary (Selena) Thofson, and Jeff (Cheri) Thofson; grandchildren Daniel (JoAnn) Christensen, Nicole (Nathan) Milender, Ryan (Jessica) Barnick, Alex (Afton) Thofson, Lilly Killian, Tonya Thofson, and Trista Thofson. Siblings Doris Coppock, Eunice Imm, Shirley Herum, and Betty Taha; 9 great grandchildren; along with many nieces and nephews.

Meloid is preceded in death by his son Clayton Thofson; parents Malmin and Clarice (Tukua) Thofson; three siblings, Ellsworth, Irene, and Delores; brother-in-laws Ralph Coppock, Dean Imm, and Chris Herum.
