Project: Middle school program, scholarship fund and youth programming
Report: The Albert Lea Family YMCA is able to use the Kenneth W. Olson funds for financial assistance to youth and families in three specific areas. The first area is our middle school program. The Y runs this program for local sixth and seventh graders during the school year. There is no cost to participants and currently we have 74 youth enrolled. The second area is in our scholarship fund. These dollars help bridge the financial gap that many families are facing in our community. We use a sliding fee scale to provide financial assistance for those in need. The third area is for youth programming such as youth sports, summer day camp and after school activities. These dollars can make the difference between a child being left at home alone, or joining in on one of our fun, character-building programs.
The use of these funds allows us to ensure that no families are denied membership or access to programs due to inability to pay. The help of the Kenneth W. Olson fund is an invaluable asset to allow us to continue our outreach to the Freeborn County area. On behalf of everyone here at the Albert Lea Family YMCA, thank you for your support.
