Karen Marie Godtland, 74, passed away Thursday, April 18, 2024 at St. John’s Lutheran Community on Fountain Lake. A celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, May 5, 2024 from 2-4PM at Bayview Freeborn Funeral Home. Burial will be held following the Celebration of Life at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Emmons.

Karen was born May 5, 1949 to Alfred and Marie (Wangen) Kaufman. She grew up in rural Albert Lea alongside her brothers and graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1967. She attended Bear Lake Concordia Lutheran Church and was married there to the love of her life, Ronald Godtland on April 3, 1971. She worked as a housekeeper for St. John’s for nearly 24 years.

She loved attending her children’s and grandchildren’s activities, no matter what they were. She would always make time to visit with family and friends and treasured her grandchildren more than anything. She often enjoyed feeding and watching birds, cardinals and hummingbirds being her favorites.

She is survived by her sons Randy (Kim) Godtland of Boyden, IA, and Adam Godtland and Evan Godtland of rural Albert Lea; grandchildren Anna Godtland and Thomas Godtland; brother Lee (Mary) Kaufman of Chanhassen, MN; and sister-in-law Brenda Kaufman of Faribault, MN; and four nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 49 years Ronald Godtland, parents Alfred and Marie Kaufman, brothers Allen and Loren Kaufman, and her infant sister.
