She was born to George and Bernice Stern in Wells, MN on July 11, 1926. Early family life was with her parents and three brothers, Luvern, Don, and Larry on a farm outside Wells. During the Depression, the family moved to Albert Lea. She met the love of her life, Vernon (Larry) on a dance floor in southern Minnesota. They were married on October 23, 1949 at First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea, and remained active in the First Lutheran Church community. They raised a family of three boys: Kim (Julie) Chaska, MN, Dani (Tia) Eden Prairie, MN, and Lon (Lois) Apple Valley, MN. They had an amazingly wide circle of close friends. She enjoyed travel, golf, watching sporting events, card games, cooking/baking, and activities with family and friends. She enjoyed and took pride in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her legacy will be her very welcoming and inclusive spirit, which will be passed on by following generations. She passed on Tuesday April 23, surrounded by family. She will be missed by the family and friends she leaves behind and welcomed by the family and friends that have gone on before her.
