Pelican Breeze hosts ribbon cutting for new dock, improvements

The Pelican Breeze held a ribbon cutting Wednesday night for the new dock on Albert Lea Lake. President/Captain Bruce Ness thanked and announced all sponsors that donated to make the dock possible. Lucas Schuster, vice president/reservation specialist/captain, spoke about the excitement of the upcoming season with the new dock, the addition of a new first mate Jacki Stene and the new website offering online ticket sales : www.pelicanbreeze.org.

Albert Lea Mayor Rich Murray said a few words thanking the group for their efforts in growing the Pelican Breeze as it serves as such an asset to not only for community residents but many visitors each year.

The public cruises started Friday and will continue each Friday at 6 p.m. and each Sunday at 1:30 p.m. through October. Special cruises like the Al Batt Nature cruises, Fourth of July cruises or booking your very own private charter can all be found on the new website.

Gold contributors included Bruce and Eileen Ness and Tom and Jean Eaton; silver contributors were Arcadian Bank, Crossroads Trailer and Schipp’s Pro Power Wash; bronze contributors were Albert Lea Seed House, Albert Lea Select Foods, Freeborn County Co-op Oil, Freeborn-Mower Operation Round-up, Lou-Rich, Minnesota Freezer Warehouse, Mrs. Gerry’s Kitchen, Northstar Power Sports & Marine and Poet; other donors included Americana Insurance, H&K Propane, Security Bank, CCF Bank, Roger Lonning, Thrivent, Glenville American Legion Post 264 and Chuck and Denise Sandager.
