Teeter sets new school record as DMACC men’s golf team finishes 2nd in Jim Curell Invitational

Teeter shoots seven-under-par 65 in the second round

Freshman Drew Teeter of Albert Lea set a new school record with a seven-under-par 65 in the second round of the Jim Curell Invitational April 24 at Cedar Pointe Golf Course in Boone, leading the DMACC men’s golf team to a second-place finish in the tournament.

Teeter shot a one-under-par 71 in the first round and captured medalist honors with a 36-hole score of 136, eight-under-par. His 65 broke the school record of 66 set by sophomore Spencer Clatt of Gilbert during the fall season.

Clatt finished second to Teeter in the individual competition with a six-under-par 138 on rounds of 71 and 66.

DMACC’s 36-hole score of 563 was three strokes short of the 560 posted by Iowa Central Community College (ICCC). DMACC’s B team was third at 596.

DMACC sophomore Kaleb Allen of West Burlington shot a 36-hole score of 139 on rounds of 70 and 69, giving the Bears the top three places in the individual competition.

Other DMACC results included a seventh-place finish for sophomore Layden Losh of Boone and sophomore Calvin McNeeley of Pleasant Hill tied for 12th. Losh posted two rounds of 71 for a 142 total and McNeeley was at 150 on two rounds of 75.

Six DMACC golfers finished in 16 th to 18 place. Freshman Caleb Ham of Hudson and sophomore Cade McGill of Johnston tied for 16th with 36-hole scores of 153. Ham posted rounds of 76 and 77 and McGill shot 71 and 82. Sophomore Drake Anderson of Sioux City, freshman Zach Julander of Pleasant Hill, sophomore Cole Johnson of Sioux City and freshman Lari Hakanen of Kevara, Finland, tied for 18 th with 36-hole scores of 154. Anderson shot two rounds of 77, Julander turned in a 76 and a 78, Johnson shot rounds of 78 and 76 and Hakanen had a 79 and a 75.

The DMACC men’s golf team will play in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) North Central District Regional Championship Monday and Tuesday at Gates Park Golf Course in Waterloo. The Bears won the North Central District Preview April 8 at Gates Park Golf Course.
