The Wednesday night Freeborn County Fair Grandstand performance featuring Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder will proceed as planned but start a half hour early at 8 p.m., according to the Freeborn County Fair Facebook page.
A post this afternoon stated fair officials are monitoring the weather with Freeborn County Emergency Management, as well as the National Weather Service. If there is a change, that will be posted on the Freeborn County Fair website.
According to the Weather Service, temperatures in the low 90s with dew points in the mid-70s are creating heat indices near 100 degrees. The combination is creating “a very moist and unstable environment, setting the stage for severe weather this afternoon and evening.”
Severe weather could include destructive winds of 70 to 80 mph and hail larger than 2 inches in diameter. A tornado or two also cannot be ruled out.
