Returning to spring break is good idea

There are many topics being discussed around Albert Lea High School and our local community. One of the most talked about issues is having no spring break this year. While it’s true we started a week later, if you look at all the other breaks and half days we have, it seems like there could be a possible solution created.

If we remove four early-outs, that would give us two extra days to go toward a spring break. The Christmas break is a lengthy break also. Shorten that by two days and now you’re up to four. Then you just have one day to take out somewhere.

It seems like there is a strong possibility to reinstate a weeklong spring break at ALHS through these suggestions. By the time spring comes around, everyone is getting restless. With the weather getting nice and all the kids looking out the windows, it makes everyone want to be outside and not confined in a school. Or in other words, spring fever. If it comes to the last resort of going a week later in the summer, as long as we get a spring break, I would be willing to do that. I know others would be too.

The school year gets to be long and stress starts to build up. It’s nice to have a break and get all of our thoughts gathered and get refocused. And for a lot of people it’s the one time where they can go on a vacation. Hopefully, this has shown people the values and benefits of a spring break.

Thank you for your time and consideration.
