Michael Recknor

Michael Dean Recknor, 61, of Wells, died Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2006 at his home in Wells from complications of cancer.

Memorial Services will be Saturday, Nov. 4, 2006 at 1:30 p.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Wells. Pastor Meg Sander will officiate. Interment with military honors by the Kiester American Legion Post and the Wells Color Guard will be in Rosehill Cemetery in Wells. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells is in charge of arrangements.

Michael Recknor was born June 28, 1945 in Albert Lea, the son of Ivan and Evelyn (Johnson) Recknor. He graduated from Redwood Falls High School in 1964. After graduation, he went into the U.S. Army from 1964 to 1967, serving in Vietnam in 1965 to 1966. He was honorably discharged in 1967 at the rank of Special E-4. Mike worked as a manager of various clubs throughout his life, worked for Tolzmann Construction and for the last nine years, he was an over the road truck driver for Warmka Transport.

He married Beverly Ignaszewski on February 26, 1994 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. Mike&8217;s favorite pastimes were &8220;BS-ing&8221; with the guys in town over coffee and at many truck stops across the country. He enjoyed games of chance and visiting various casinos. He especially enjoyed spoiling his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.

Mike is survived by his wife Beverly &8220;Annie&8221; of Wells; Son: Jeff and wife Shelley Recknor of Albert Lea, daughter: Renee and husband Larry Sass of Janesville, Step-children: Jodi and husband Gary Oppedal of Hartland, Joel and wife Staci Ignaszewski of Ottumwa, Iowa, Jolette and husband Scott Linde of Wells, Jason Ignaszewski of Pemberton; Sister: Jackie and husband Gene Graveman of Albert Lea; Five grandchildren, ten step-grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Eugene Recknor, and step-father Clarence Mock.
