Louise Boverhuis, 94, of Hollandale

Funeral services for Louise Boverhuis, age 94, formerly of Hollandale, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 7, at the Hollandale Christian Reformed Church. Rev. Gary Brouwers will officiate. Interment will be in the Hollandale Cemetery. Visitation is 4 to 6 p.m. today, Sunday, at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the services at the Church. Louise died Thursday, August 3, 2006, at the Albert Lea Good Samaritan Center.

Louise Boverhuis was born January 13, 1912, to Harko and Jennie (Holleman) DeBoer in Corsica, S.D. On March 20, 1931, she was united in marriage to Reinder Boverhuis in Platte, S.D. Louise moved with her family from South Dakota to Hollandale in 1944 and has been a resident there since that time. She was a homemaker and had been employed at the Good Samaritan Center in the dietary and laundry departments until her retirement. Louise was an active member of the Hollandale Christian Reformed Church. She donated many knitted items to several organizations and was active in the church quilting group. Louise especially enjoyed family activities.

Survivors include her children: Jennie and husband, Paul Eekhoff of Kanawha, Iowa, Howard Boverhuis of Clarks Grove, Grace and husband, Dean Bos of Hollandale, Marlene Passow of Austin, Harold and wife, Jean Boverhuis of Lansing, Ralph and wife, Pat Boverhuis of Appleton, Wis., and Henrietta M. Weeks of Hollandale; 24 grandchildren, 60 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters: Marie Tillema of DeMott, Ind., Esther Workman of Cadillac, Miss., Jen Loverink of Hollandale, Evelyn Christians and Viola Eekhoff, both of Kanawha, Iowa, Wendall and wife, Tena DeBoer of Hollandale, and Paul and wife, Kathy DeBoer of Albert Lea; sisters-in-law, Lena DeBoer and Alice DeBoer; brother-in-law, Bill Bos; and many special friends from the Albert Lea Good Samaritan Center.

Louise was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Reinder; son, Bernard; grandsons, Steven Eekhoff and Mark Greving; great-grandson, Shawn Boverhuis; daughter-in-law, Marian Boverhuis; brothers, Harko and Harold DeBoer; and sisters: Lillian Bos, Pearl Clay, Martha Coeling, and Nellie Tillema.
