Janet Johannsen, 73, of Albert Lea

The memorial service for Janet Louise Johannsen will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 22, at Bonnerup Funeral Service in Albert Lea. The Rev. Kent Otterman will officiate. Visitation is one hour before the service.

Janet died on Sunday, June 18, 2006, at her home in Albert Lea. She was 73 years old.

Janet was born in Albert Lea on Oct. 16, 1932, the daughter of Wilford and Verna (Jensen) Nelson. She lived her entire life in Freeborn County and attended school in the Geneva-Ellendale area. She was married to Doran Johannsen in 1955.

Janet had worked at the Elks but was mainly a homemaker. She had been a member of the VFW Auxiliary and an Albert Lea bowling league. She enjoyed camping, fishing, shopping and loved playing bingo and spending time with her family and friends. She will be remembered for her good sense of humor and telling of jokes.

Janet is survived by her daughter, Maeta Johannsen of Casey, Iowa and her special friend, David White of Des Moines, Iowa; son, Virgil Johnannsen of Albert Lea; granddaughter, Leah Johannsen and her special friend, Brian Warner of Albert Lea; one brother, Clark (Dawn) Nelson of Austin, Minn.; good friends, Kari and Bruce Way of Dallas Center, Iowa and Bernie and Carlos Wicks of Albert Lea; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Doran; daughter, Tamela Johannsen.

Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army or to the family.
