Hammer Field is getting a spring facelift with a new sprinkler system being installed.

The field is torn up now but come fall the improvements should be evident.

The sprinklers will allow the school to better care for the turf which is heavily used during the fall sports season with both football and boys and girls soccer using it several times a week.

&8220;With three sports being played on there during the fall this will make it easier to take care of and improve the condition of the field,&8221; said Albert Lea Athletics Director Clay Anderson.

The field is also being re-crowned for the first time in over 30 years. The improvements should help eliminate some disease that was in the grass as well as help improve drainage.

The project is expected to be wrapped up by May 20.
