Edna Dishon, 91

Edna J. Dishon, age 91, passed away Wednesday, March 29, 2006, at Blake Hospital in Bradenton, Fla. An interment will be in Graceland Cemetery in Albert Lea at a later date.

Edna was born Nov. 3, 1914, in Hartland Township, rural Northwood, Iowa, to Nels A. and Emma (Hefta) Hengesteg. She was baptized and confirmed at Silver Lake Lutheran Church, rural Northwood.

She graduated from Northwood High School. Edna was united in marriage to Cecil Dishon on March 27, 1938, in Manly, Iowa. After their marriage Edna and Cecil farmed near Kensett, Iowa, then Hayward, and also near Pickerel Lake. Later, they owned and operated the Bel Aire Motel for several years.

While in Albert Lea, she belonged to First Lutheran Church. Edna and Cecil moved to Bradenton in 1969. They lived in Heather Hills Estates until three years ago, when she moved to assisted living at Windsor Oaks. Edna enjoyed her trips with Cecil and going to the dog races in Sarasota. Edna loved to play cards and dance. She loved her flowers, and Florida in general, except for the hurricane seasons.

Edna is survived by a brother, Norance (Altine) Hengesteg of Glenville, Minn.; a sister Arlene (Simon) Lee of Albert Lea; a sister-in-law, Marion Hengesteg of Des Moines, Iowa, several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Cecil in 1999, sister Elnora, brother Andy, brother-in-law and sisters-in-law.
