Darlene Pegors-Rettke, 64, of Albert Lea

Memorial services for Darlene R. Pegors-Rettke, age 64, of Albert Lea, will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, April 1, at the Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home Chapel. Deacon Mike Ellis will officiate. Interment was at the Nashville Cemetery, rural Truman. Friends may greet the family one hour prior to the time of the service.

Darlene died on Saturday, March 25, 2006, at her home.

Darlene Ruth Pegors-Rettke was born on March 21, 1942, in Truman, Minn., the daughter of Wilbert and Ida (Gaub) Pegors. She grew up and went to school in Truman, graduating from Truman High School. In June of 1960 Darlene was married to Jon F. Rettke in Fairmont, Minn. They were later divorced. She always kept her head up despite being divorced for 32 years. She never spoke a bad word about him even though he couldn’t do the same. Darlene moved to Albert Lea in 1963. She worked at various jobs including the Country Kitchen, the truck stop, the B & B Caf, and for the last 20 years she owned her own business, Darlene’s Used-A-Bit Store. She loved going to sales, eating, and she loved her animals.

Survivors include her sons Jon and Fred Rettke, both of Albert Lea, her brothers Marlyn, Dean, and LeRoy Pegors of Sterling, N.D., sister Yvonne Farmer of Denver, Colo., granddaughter Samantha Jo Rettke of Chisholm, Minn., mother Ida Pegors of Sterling, and many nieces and nephews.

Darlene was preceded in death by her father Wilbert Pegors, and her uncle Allen Pegors.
