Roland Hagen, 90, of Albert Lea

Funeral services for Roland J. Hagen of Albert Lea, will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 11, 2006, at the Bonnerup Funeral Service Chapel in Albert Lea. The Rev. Jeff Laeger-Hagemeister and the Rev. Don Rose will officiate. Visitation will be held from 1 until 3 on Saturday at the chapel. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery.

Roland died Tuesday, March 7, 2006, at St. Johns Lutheran Home in Albert Lea. He was 90 years of age.

Rollie was born Jan. 13, 1916, in Albert Lea, the son of Ole and Elise (Hanson) Hagen. He attended Albert Lea Public Schools. On June 15, 1946, he was united in marriage to Irene Stiehl at the First Lutheran Church Parsonage in

Rollie had been a member of First Lutheran Church and an Albert Lea resident all of his life. He had been employed by the railroad and in road construction early in life. He worked for many years for the Wittmer Transfer Co., and later with his wife Irene, they owned and operated the Plaza Liquor Store.

Rollie had been the past president of the South Side Businessmen Association and a life member of the Elks Club.

Rollie loved trains, and spent many hours at the yard watching and talking to the workers. He enjoyed going to coffee with his buddies and talking with family and friends.

Roland is survived by his children; Wendy Hagen of Albert Lea, and Jimmy Hagen of Centertown, Mo. There is one grandchild surviving; Vicki and her husband Gary Foster of Sioux City, Iowa. Also surviving is one sister; Virginia and her husband Bernie Higgins of Albert Lea, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Roland was preceded in death by his parents, wife Irene, 11 brothers and sisters, daughter in-law; Laura Hagen and grandson Jason Hagen.

Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.
