A 44-year-old Faribault man who allegedly sexually assaulted two 17-year-old girls he had met on the Internet while posing as man in his twenties was arraigned on charges of first- and third-degree criminal sexual conduct Wednesday in Freeborn County.

According to the criminal complaint:

Terrance David Nordwall, in two separate instances, met girls online and communicated with them for about a month before meeting them in October and September of 2002. In October, he met one girl in Albert Lea at a fast-food restaurant where she realized he was much older that he had told her. After going to a movie and a haunted house they drove to an isolated area in Clarks Grove. It was there that he allegedly removed her clothing and raped her.

Nordwall is also accused of meeting another Albert Lea teenager at her house in September. She realized that he did not match the picture he had supplied online. She invited him inside and they watched a movie. When he put his hand down her pants and fondled her, she told him to leave. He convinced her to go into his car with her, and he tried to do it again. She slapped him and he pushed her out of the car. He showed up at her house a few days later and wanted to take her picture. She slammed the door in his face and he pounded on the door demanding to talk to her.

Both girls identified him in a lineup.

A Rice County deputy began investigating the matter in May when the girls’ phone numbers showed up in a search of his home for a separate sexual-assault investigation. He called the numbers and talked to the homeowners, finding that they each had teenage girls who frequent the Internet.

According to the complaint, investigators believe Nordwall faces similar charges in Rice County.

Nordwall is being held on $100,000 bail unconditionally, and $50,000 with conditions.
