HOLLANDALE – A local Channel seed brand representative is investing in a new soybean treatment and warehousing facility to help make the planting season more convenient for local farmer customers.

Mike DenHerder, Channel Seed and Technology Advisor, is developing a warehouse building, a seed treater and six bulk bins in Hollandale. The facility is expected to begin operation in March. A local seed treatment facility offers the convenience of downstream seed treatment on site.

“I’m very pleased to offer my customers this new facility, which will help bring simplicity to their planting season,” DenHerder said. “This project is another example of the Channel ‘Seedsmanship’ approach of offering our customers leading products and services to help maximize their success.”

The project will feature a 60- by 120-foot metal building with a seed treater that can process up to 1,800 units per hour. The treater offers different seed treatment options for Channel Genuity Roundup Ready 2 Yield brand soybeans. Included are Acceleron Seed Treatment Products to promote strong emergence with protection against early season insects and plant diseases, and Poncho/VOTiVO, which helps protect early-season seedlings and roots from numerous insect and nematode pests.

Outside the warehouse are six 3,000-bushel bulk storage bins that are connected to the building with a conveyor system that moves seed through the process and ultimately into the farmer customer’s truck or seed tender. DenHerder plans an open house event for local Channel customers once the facility is completed.
