Local Modern Woodmen of America chapters donated three new trees to the lower part of Bancroft Bay Park as part of its Plant a Tree Program. Performance Landscaping planted the trees on Thursday, and on Friday Modern Woodmen financial representative Vicki Legried (second from right) and members of the Emmons and Albert Lea chapters gathered for a quick ceremony and photos. The three trees are native to Minnesota: red oak, sugar maple and clump birch. A tax-exempt fraternal society, Modern Woodmen sells life insurance and investments for members in addition to performing charitable and volunteer activities. -- Submitted
