Students honored

Buena Vista University

Kayla Hartmann, from Albert Lea, was recently honored at Buena Vista University’s student recognition event. Hartmann was inducted into Alpha Chi, a national honor society recognizing scholarship in all disciplines, promoting academic achievement and encouraging its members to continue their lives as scholars. Membership is restricted to 10 percent of the senior class having a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher and five percent of the junior class having a cumulative grade point average of 3.65 or higher.

 

University of Wisconsin-Stout

Sarah Estes of Albert Lea, received the Chancellor’s Award for the spring 2012 semester at University of Wisconsin-Stout. Estes is majoring in human development and family studies. The award is presented to students who have a grade point average of 3.5 or above.

 

St. Olaf College

Andrew Knutson was among nearly 900 St. Olaf College students who were recognized for academic achievement at the college’s annual Honors Day convocation on May 4. Knutson, from Albert Lea, is a graduate of Albert Lea High School, and a biology major. Andrew is the son of Scott and Jacqueline Knutson.

Honors Day recognizes students who have a cumulative grade point average of 3.60 or higher on a 4.0 scale. The convocation also recognizes students who have been awarded scholarships and fellowships, including Fulbright scholars, Goldwater scholars, and senior members of leadership and academic honor societies.
