On Saturday two Minnesota chapters of Daughters of the American Revolution will tour “Chez Mille Glace” located at 309 21st Street S.W., Austin. Touring the home of Peter D. Plunkett will be Red Cedar Chapter of Austin and Monument Chapter of Edina.

The home was built in 1951 for S.P. Elam, an Austin jeweler. The Warren Plunkett family has occupied the home since 1959. The home represents Wright’s Usonian style of architecture, and is one of the largest of its type.

Frank Lloyd Wright was born in 1867 in Richland Center, Wis. He died in 1959 in Arizona. Wright designed more than 1,000 structures and completed 500. Wright’s Usonian style home is his unique vision for urban planning in the United States. Wright has been recognized by the American Institute of Architects as “the greatest American architect of all time.”

Daughters of the American Revolution is a national lineage organization and is open to membership for any woman over age 18 who can trace her ancestry to a patriot in the American Revolution.
