Organizer Jeanette Ladlie said some of the items to be auctioned include a 43-inch plasma TV, two small deep freezes with a starter supply of pork, beef and turkey, a diamond ring, a diamond necklace and sports tickets, to name a few.

There will also be grab bags for sale for a quarter.

“Cancer is a dreaded disease,” Ladlie said. “We really need to find a cure, and as we all know it takes money.”

Ladlie said she has been affected by cancer multiple times in her family, including her first husband who died at 46, both of her parents and her brother.

The event raised $40,000 in 2011 and continues to grow. It has raised more than $100,000 since it began five years ago.

“Come have a couple of days of good fun, raising money for a good cause,” she said.
