Light snow fell on Albert Lea all day Sunday, from just about midnight all the way to midnight.

It may have been light snow, but enough fell to count as 2 inches, according to KIMT-TV.

The National Weather Service issued a wind chill advisory for most of Minnesota. In fact, much of the Great Plains was in the same advisory, along with western Iowa and northern Wisconsin.

For Freeborn County and southern Minnesota, the advisory was slated to end at noon today.

“Brisk winds combined with very cold temperatures will yield dangerously cold wind chills across Minnesota until midday, and across Wisconsin this afternoon and tonight as temperatures fall.”

Wind chill values were expected to reach 25 to 30 below.

The high temperature for Albert Lea today, according to the National Weather Service, was forecast at 4 degrees, but Tuesday was expected to reach 17 degrees.

More cold was forecast for Wednesday, with a high that day forecast at 2 below zero.

A broad area of 2 to 5 inches of snow was expected to fall southeast of a line from New Ulm to the Twin Cities, followed by dangerous wind chills Sunday night.
