2 cited after crash

Albert Lea police cited two men Tuesday night after a crash at the intersection of West Main Street and South Washington Avenue.

Reports state Ty Nielsen, 18, was driving a silver 2002 Chevrolet Impala westbound on Main Street shortly after 11 p.m.  when he was struck by a red 2001 Ford Taurus, driven by Omar Rodriguez, 20, driving southbound on Washington Avenue at a high rate of speed.

Police stated Rodriguez and three other people in the Taurus fled on foot from the vehicle after the crash.

A short time later, police received a call from Rodriguez wanting to report that his vehicle had been stolen.

Rodriguez was cited for carrying a weapon without a permit, having an uncased firearm in a motor vehicle, leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, reckless driving and a stop sign violation.

Isaiah Talamantes, 21, was arrested for felony possession of a firearm.

 

2 arrested for DWI

Police arrested Joshua Stephen Ladwig, 34, for fourth-degree driving while intoxicated after a traffic stop at 2:32 a.m. today near the intersection of West Front Street and South First Avenue.

Albert Lea police arrested Stephanie Kay Johannsen, 22, for third-degree driving while intoxicated, second-degree test refusal and possession of a small amount of marijuana at 2:10 a.m. Sunday near the intersection of East Eighth Street and Todd Avenue.

 

Items stolen

Police received a report at 8:06 p.m. Tuesday of a wallet that was stolen from a car two days prior at 1107 Gene Ave.

A Dewalt tool bag with tools and an iPod cord were reported stolen at 12:10 p.m. Wednesday from 1019 Cedar Ave.

Albert Lea police received a report at 6:34 p.m. Tuesday that people had left Country Inn & Suites, 2214 E. Main St., with two TVs from a room. Estimated loss and damage was $1,500.

Copper was reported stolen from Albert Lea Electric at 10:11 a.m. Tuesday.

 

Man cited for damage

Police cited Brock Eckstein for criminal damage to property after receiving a report at 11:49 a.m. Tuesday that Eckstein had allegedly thrown a rock through a car window at 607 E. 11th St.

 

Vehicles damaged

A Jeep Wrangler was reported damaged at 2:07 a.m. today behind 338 S. Broadway. Someone reportedly bent open the door and attempted to remove a stereo.

A car was reported damaged inside a garage at 11:06 a.m. Friday at 819 E. Hawthorne St.

A window was reported broken out of a truck at 10:27 a.m. Saturday at 731 S. Newton Ave.

 

Hit-and-run reported

A hit-and-run crash was reported at 3:26 p.m. Tuesday at Walmart, 1550 Blake Ave.

 

Burglary reported

A burglary was reported at 7:18 p.m. Tuesday at 710 S. Washington Ave.

 

Items illegally dumped in ditch

Items were reportedly illegally dumped in a ditch at 11:16 a.m. Tuesday at 15885 720th Ave., Albert Lea.

 

House broken into

The back door of a residence at 68602 140th St., Albert Lea, was reported kicked in at 12:22 a.m. Friday. Items were missing.

 

Gas drive-off reported

A gas drive-off was reported at 9:42 p.m. Saturday at 315 Johnson St. in Hartland. A Chevy Suburban reportedly left without paying for $98 in gasoline.

 

2 cited for underage drinking

Freeborn County sheriff’s deputies cited Alec Edward Madson, 18, and a juvenile for underage consumption at 12:46 a.m. Saturday near the Glenville-Emmons High School.

 

Thefts reported

A money order valued at more than $400 was reported stolen from a vehicle at 11:53 a.m. Friday at 909 Janson St.

About $200 in CDs was reportedly stolen from a vehicle at 9:23 a.m. Saturday at 719 Belmont St.

A GPS system was reported stolen from a car at 12:46 p.m. Saturday at 334 E. Third St.

A mower was reported stolen at 10 p.m. Saturday from 208 W. Third St.

A 1940s antique motorized bicycle was reported stolen at 2:09 p.m. Monday at 1021 Virginia Place.

 

Man cited for disorderly conduct

Police cited Aaron Michael Deyo, 44, for disorderly conduct at 1:27 a.m. Sunday near the intersection of Washington Avenue and Court Street.

 

Men cited for assault

Albert Lea police cited John Wayne Dowdell for fifth-degree assault at 11:01 p.m. Friday.

Albert Lea police arrested Charlie Morris, 45, for second-degree assault at 1:22 p.m. Monday at 224 E. Second St. Adam Ly Haas, 22, was arrested for felony harassment restraining order violation.

 

Man arrested for shoplifting, prescription pills

Albert Lea police Jonathyn Michael DaVeiga, 20, for fifth-degree possession of prescription medication and shoplifting at 9:02 p.m. Sunday from Shopko, 2610 Bridge Ave.

 

Break-ins reported

Police received a report of a car that was broken into at 3:44 a.m. Tuesday at St. John’s Lutheran Community, 901 Luther Place. Several items were taken.

A vehicle was gone through at 9:46 a.m. Monday at 310 Elizabeth Ave.

 

4 arrested for car break-ins

Albert Lea police arrested Michelle Jo Johansen, 25, Johnathon Jake Nibeck, 23, Jesse Val-Lee Johansen, 23,  and Robert Damian Riedmaier, 23, after receiving a report of suspicious people at 4:22 a.m. Tuesday in the St. John’s Lutheran Community parking lot. They are believed to have been involved in a series of break-ins. Police have additional property to be claimed and are asking for residents whose vehicles have been broken into off of Fountain Street and near St. John’s to contact police.

 

Vandalism reported at church

Vandalism was reported at St. Theodore Catholic Church at 8:05 a.m. Monday.
