Local author to have book signing

Milt Ost has recently written a historical novel, “Tumbleweeds Burning.”

He will give a presentation on the historical background of the book, as well as a book signing, at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Freeborn County Historical Museum. The presentation is free and open to the public. The book is a five-generation saga of a family invited by the Czar to move to Russia. One of their sons is chosen to serve in the Imperial Hussars, the Czar’s secret service detail of that day. Life is exciting and good, but soon they discover the corruption and greed in high places, and before long, they experience bitter persecution. They flee to America and settle in the Midwest. Their life on the western prairies is incredibly hard, with battles around every corner, but they persevere and turn their little corner of land into one of the breadbaskets of the world.

Ost is a former pastor of Grace Lutheran Church, now retired and living in Albert Lea.
