Tigers win 1st dual of the season

The Tigers were on point Monday, winning their first dual of the season.

The Albert Lea girls’ golf team defeated Mankato West 366-395 Monday at Wedgewood Cove.

The medalist of the dual was Albert Lea senior Sam Nielsen who shot an 86. The rest of the Tigers rounding out the score were Natalie Nafzger with 93, Emma Loch with 98, Kayla Jensen with 107 and Maddy Carstens with 116.

“This was a good meet for us, improving by 19 strokes,” said Albert Lea coach Shawn Riebe. “This is closer to the potential of this golf team. I am happy to see them come out and play like this at home — this should be a confidence builder.”

Next, Albert Lea (13-10 overall, 1-0 Big Nine Conference) will play in an invitational at noon Friday at Ridges of Sand Creek in Jordan.
