2 injured after motorcycle crash in northern Albert Lea

Two area residents were injured Saturday evening in Albert Lea in a motorcycle crash.

Noah J. Krell, 20, of Ellendale, and Caitlin M. Hinz, 20, of New Richland, were transported to Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea with injuries deemed not life-threatening.

Krell was driving a 2000 Yamaha motorcycle south on Freeborn County Road 22 when he lost control when swerving out of the way of a 2013 Chevy Equinox driven by Shyla Reicherts, 24, of Glenville who was north and turning left at the intersection with Hoeger Lane shortly before 6 p.m., according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

Reicherts was reportedly not injured in the crash.

Hinz was listed as Krell’s passenger.

It is unknown whether Krell or Hinz had alcohol in their systems — Reicherts reportedly did not.

Reicherts was reportedly wearing her seatbelt. Neither Krell nor Hinz was wearing a helmet, according to the report.

Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office, Albert Lea Fire Department and Gold Cross ambulance assisted on scene.

 

Man injured in rollover

A Chicago man was injured today in a rollover crash near the Freeborn/Mower County line.

Miguel A. Guerra, 37, was transported to Mayo Clinic Health System in Austin with an injury deemed not life-threatening.

Guerra was driving a 2012 Peterbilt semi tractor west on Interstate 90 near the Freeborn/Mower County line when the semi left the roadway, entered the north ditch and rolled onto its side shortly before 3:30 a.m.

Guerra was wearing his seatbelt, and alcohol was not a factor in the crash, according to the State Patrol report.

Austin Police Department and Mower County ambulance assisted on scene.
