The NRHEG baseball team scored early and often against Glenville-Emmons/Alden-Conger on Friday afternoon.

The Panthers scored runs in every inning but the fifth to beat the Wolverines 14-1.

“Offensively, we did a great job of putting the ball in-play,” Panthers coach Drew Paukert said. “We had seven different guys record a hit.”

NRHEG’s offense was paced by Sam Prigge and Jake Tasker, who each had two hits, scored two runs and drove in two runs.

Sawyer VanMaldeghem went 3-4 with two runs scored and two stolen bases for the Panthers.

Despite the offensive outburst, Paukert was less than impressed with his team’s effort in the field.

“We struggled making plays at times when we needed,” he said. “We were fortunate tonight to not have some of those mistakes cost us runs.”

The win pushes the Panthers to 3-7 and drops the Wolverines to 2-6.

G-E/A-C will play Tuesday at Spring Grove.

NRHEG will be at home against United South Central on Tuesday.
