1. Candy cane hunt

All children are welcome to attend this weekend’s game of striped hide and seek. Candy canes will be hidden around Edgewater Park for children to see how many they can find. Afterward, there will be snacks, hot chocolate, crafts and games. Prepare, too, for a visit from Santa. Remember to dress warm on Saturday, and to be on time: The hunt starts promptly at 10 a.m.

2. National Theatre Live

Fans of Harry Potter and Shakespeare both have something to appreciate in the 7 p.m. Saturday National Theatre Live performance of “Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead.” Daniel Radcliffe, Joshua McGuire and David Haig star in a situation comedy that weaves in and out of the plot of “Hamlet.” Characters from the famous tragedy do make an appearance, but the plot largely follows the duo as they attempt to work out what, exactly, is going on with Hamlet.

The performance will be broadcast live in high-definition from the London stage.

Tickets are $20 for adults and $12 for students.

3. Police K-9 unit calendar signing

Children who love dogs and knowing what date it is are invited to have both in the same place. Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Stalker will sign K-9 calendars with his handler from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at The Pet Authority. Stalker is a model in the calendar. All proceeds go to support Stalker and his work.

4. Music recital

Sharon Astrup-Scott’s music students will have a recital Sunday afternoon at the First Lutheran Church chapel. Audience members can expect the recital to begin at 2 p.m.

5. Vendor show

All weekend, vendors will be at Northbridge Mall as part of the Nick of Time vendor show. After shopping around, children can also tell Santa they want a puppy (or anything else) for Christmas. Santa will be available to meet with children from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday and from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at Northbridge Mall.
