A winter weather advisory begins this afternoon over much of south central Minnesota as another round of snow is expected to move into the area.

The advisory remains in effect through 7 a.m. Monday, according to the National Weather Service.

Total snow accumulations of 3 to 5 inches of snow are expected.

The weather agency advises people to plan on slippery road conditions. Some reductions in visibility are likely as winds gusting as high as 30 mph will cause patchy blowing and drifting snow.

The snow was expected to begin across western Minnesota shortly after sunrise and expand east across the rest of Minnesota during the day, before tapering off tonight.
