Four people were arrested Wednesday morning after a series of burglaries at Verizon stores that ended when they reportedly attempted to burglarize an Albert Lea Verizon store.

A 17-year-old from Eagan, two 15-year-olds from Minneapolis and a fourth juvenile believed to reside in Richfield were in custody as of Wednesday morning awaiting charges for felony attempted burglary and suspected felony possessing stolen property.

They were arrested after authorities received information from Mason City police about burglaries at Verizon stores in Mason City and Forest City, according to Albert Lea police. Police reportedly conducted surveillance on local Verizon stores, and an officer noticed a white vehicle similar to a description of the suspect vehicle at approximately 5 a.m. in front of the main doors at Verizon in Albert Lea, 2718 Bridge Ave. The suspects were then arrested.

The Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office assisted on scene, and Albert Lea police are working with Iowa law enforcement agencies during an investigation into the incidents.

A brick reportedly fell from the car when the suspects exited the vehicle.

Charges are expected to be filed in Freeborn County District Court today, said Albert Lea Deputy Director of Police J.D. Carlson.

The juveniles were taken to another county and are expected to return when they are charged. One is in custody in Freeborn County.
