Clifford Treptow, 1930-2018

Clifford Robert Treptow, 87, of Wells died Monday, July 30, 2018, at his daughter’s home in Clarks Grove, surrounded by family. A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Wells. The Revs. Mary Iverson and Matt Hundley will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells, and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church Saturday. Interment will be at Rice Lake Cemetery in Foster Township, Faribault County. Military honors will be accorded by the Wells color guard. Memorials are preferred to Wells Memorial Veterans Park or Mayo Clinic Health System Hospice. Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells is assisting the family. Clifford Treptow

Clifford Robert was born Dec. 22, 1930, in Wells, the son of William and Elsie (Passer) Treptow. Clifford completed ninth grade and then, due to his father’s injury, quit school to help keep the farm going. He served in the U.S. Army.

He was united in marriage to Norma Matz on Nov. 4, 1954, at Rice Lake Evangelical United Brethren Church. He farmed for many years and owned and managed The Friendship Home in Wells. He also sold Ozark Insurance for several years.

Clifford served on the Walters Fire Department and the Kiester School Board. He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Wells and Vineyard Church in Albert Lea. Clifford enjoyed fishing, model trains, campfires and family time, reading, mowing lawns and was a Twins fan. He enjoyed working at the Minnesota Lake Tribune until he became ill.

Cliff is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Norma; infant son, David Treptow; grandson, Matthew Schuster; great-granddaughter, Josie Marie Buendorf; brother, Ralph Treptow; and sisters Viola Dallman and Loretta Sorensen.

He is survived by his children Sandra (Randy) Buendorf of Hillsboro, Missouri, Nora (Brian) Thompson of Clarks Grove, Patricia (William) Schuster of Wells, Jeffery (Terra) Treptow of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Joel (Tanya) Treptow of Wells; siblings Howard Treptow of Winnebago, Marcella Garlow of Wells, Arvilla Kain of Minnesota Lake and Gordy (Maggie) Treptow of Wells; brother- and sister-in-law Don (Ellie) Frederick of Mesa, Arizona; 16 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
