Streets flood during heavy rain on Sunday and other reports

Thefts reported

Oxycodone slated to be delivered via mail from the Veterans Affairs hospital to a residence on 245th Street in rural Albert Lea was reported stolen at 2:14 p.m. Saturday.

The Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office received a report at 7:50 p.m. Saturday that someone appeared to break into a residence at 75463 160th St. A male was reportedly found sleeping in a vehicle at the residence; however, the person took off before authorities arrived.

A 2004 silver Chevy Impala was reported stolen at 8:11 a.m. Sunday from a driveway at 401 Edgewood Ave. The vehicle was later recovered at 2453 S.E. Marshall St.

LP was reported stolen off a camper at 4:27 p.m. Sunday while parked at the KOA, 84259 Freeborn County Road 46. The incident reportedly took place overnight Saturday.

A purple mountain bike was reported stolen at 11:15 a.m. Sunday from 933 Madison Ave.

A motorcycle was reported stolen at 11:59 p.m. Sunday at 1963 S. Broadway.

Numerous items were reported stolen from a residence at 3:07 a.m. Monday at 307 Hammer Road.

A young male was reported stealing beef jerky at 7:38 a.m. Friday from 201 W. Main St.

A license plate was reported stolen at 12:48 p.m. Friday at 1019 Autumn St.

A theft was reported at 10:20 a.m. Saturday at 820 Happy Trails Lane.

Police cited Sylvia Garcia Guy, 61, for misdemeanor theft after reportedly stealing a pair of shoes at 3:31 p.m. Saturday from Walmart, 1550 Blake Ave.

 

Break-ins reported

An apartment was reported broken into at 2:25 a.m. Sunday at 321 Sibley Ave.

A car break-in was reported at 3:56 p.m. Sunday at 114 Charlotte Ave. Numerous items were reported missing.

Police received a report of a suspicious person at 7:07 p.m. Sunday near the intersection of Kram Avenue and Betha Larson Lane. The police log stated a noisy black car drove by and a female with long dark hair got out and tried to enter the reporting party’s car. It was locked, and the car then drove away.

Police received a report at 2:31 a.m. Saturday of two juvenile males who were reportedly attempting to break into a car at 210 E. Front St. Police cited one juvenile for curfew violation. Another juvenile male was cited for curfew violation, tampering with a motor vehicle and underage drinking.

A male was reported looking into vehicles at 9:56 a.m. Friday near the intersection of Broadway and Fountain Street. The male reportedly denied looking into vehicles.

Big Toe Towing, 625 W. Main St., was reported broken into at 11:46 a.m. Saturday. Equipment was reported missing.

Police received a report at 10:29 p.m. Saturday of a storage unit that was reported broken into at 401 Pilot St.

 

2 arrested for drunk driving

Police arrested Jay Anthony Feeley, 60, for third-degree driving while intoxicated after receiving a report of a truck that reportedly hit another vehicle at 3:05 p.m. Sunday at 820 Happy Trails Lane. Feeley had a preliminary breath test of .31.

Police arrested Timothy Mark Goossen, 32, for third-degree driving while intoxicated and obstructing with force after a traffic stop at 6:48 p.m. Saturday near the intersection of East Main Street and Morningside Road.

 

Man arrested for burglary

Police arrested Rio Santiago Acosta, 21, for third-degree burglary, fleeing on foot and misdemeanor theft tied to a reported break-in at 3:20 a.m. Saturday at Liquor Depot, 606 S. Broadway. He was arrested later in the day on Saturday. Acosta reportedly used a rock to break a door at the business and took a bottle of Fireball and a case of Bud Light Lime, valued at $50.

 

Vehicle egged

A vehicle was reported egged at 8:40 a.m. Sunday at 211 Independence Ave. S.

 

Hit-and-run reported

A hit-and-run crash was reported at 4:35 p.m. Sunday at 2400 Consul St.

 

Streets flood during heavy rain on Sunday

Numerous streets were reported flooded Sunday night during heavy rain in Albert Lea:

• Main Street near Godfather’s Pizza

• Main Street at St. Marys Avenue

• Garfield Avenue and Eastgate Street intersection

• Intersection of Valley Avenue and Sheridan Street

• Hawthorne Street near Thorne Crest Senior Living Community

• Hawthorne Street near Valley Avenue

• Hawthorne Street near Marie Avenue

 

Identity theft reported

Police received a report at 9:15 a.m. Friday of an Albert Lea resident whose Social Security number was fraudulently used.

 

2 arrested on warrants

Jonathan Michael Boyd, 41, reportedly turned himself in on a warrant at 11:27 p.m. Friday at 411 S. Broadway .

Police arrested Stanley Edgar Miller, 66, on a Mower County warrant at 11:14 p.m. Saturday at 1502 Eberhart St.
