2 injured in crash on Highway 13

Two people were injured Saturday evening when two vehicles crashed on Minnesota Highway 13 near the intersection with Interstate 90.

Charles Andrew Bysheim, 69, of Rochester and Madalynn Rae Thostenson, 23, of Alden suffered injuries deemed not life-threatening, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. Bysheim was taken by Mayo Clinic Ambulance to Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea. Thostenson was not taken to the hospital.

According to the State Patrol, Thostenson was driving a 2002 Volkswagon Beetle north on Highway 13 when her vehicle collided with a 2003 Toyota Camry driven by Douglas John Abrahamson, 72, of Rochester. The Camry was reportedly exiting westbound I-90 to turn south on Highway 13.

Abrahamson and two of his other passengers, Maureen Fae Buytaert, 73, of St. Charles and Shirley Joanne Cannell-Jordahl, 75, of Rochester were not injured.

All occupants were wearing their seat belts, and alcohol was not a factor, according to the State Patrol report.

The Albert Lea Police Department, Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office, Minnesota Department of Natural Resources and Albert Lea Fire Department assisted.
