To meet evolving patient needs, Mayo Clinic Health System has launched several new services, including drive-thru testing for COVID-19, curbside pharmacy and medical equipment pickup, and dedicated respiratory clinics, according to a press release.

To limit the risk of exposure to COVID-19, the health system is delivering as much care as possible through telehealth or virtual methods, such as video visits, phone calls and online tools.

In a continuing effort to ensure the safety of patients and staff, the following additional changes will be implemented to Mayo Clinic Health System locations across southeast Minnesota, beginning the week of April 6.

Hours at several smaller clinics will be adjusted as follows:

• Lake Mills: open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday

• New Richland: open 8 a.m. to noon Thursday

• Wells: open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday; open Thursday 1-5 p.m. for lab/blood draws only

Same-day clinics in Albert Lea and Austin will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., seven days a week. Patients are reminded to call first for an appointment. No walk-ins will be seen in any Mayo Clinic Health System primary care or same-day clinics.

Mayo Clinic Health System is carefully reviewing its Fountain Centers men’s residential unit, and the associated extended care house in Albert Lea, the release stated. This program provides addiction treatment services in a group setting. The residential setting poses a challenge to maintaining safe social distancing.

The Fountain Centers residential program is temporarily closed to new admissions. The health system continues to care for patients in both the residential and extended care units. As the review continues, the program will incorporate telehealth and virtual care options such as video visits and phone calls to ensure continued care and treatment for patients.

Mayo Clinic Health System in southeast Minnesota will continue to evaluate its services and adapt the way care is delivered to protect the health of patients, staff and the community during the pandemic.
